Tampa Bay Abortion Fund Hosting Pop-Up Lemonade Stands to Spread the Word About Self-Managed Abortion
The series of three Lemonade & Abortion events in August is part of TBAF’s larger campaign to educate the Tampa Bay community about abortion options

TAMPA, FL — August 3, 2022 — Tampa Bay Abortion Fund will be hosting pop-up lemonade stands throughout the month of August at local Tampa markets to share lemonade, sweet treats and important information about self-managed abortion. Inspired by Shout Your Abortion’s Fourth of July abortion pills pop-up outside the U.S. Supreme Court, TBAF volunteers will be available to provide resources for ordering abortion pills online. These pop-ups will be held:
- August 13, 5–9 p.m. at Cactus Moon Market (4206 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, FL 33603)
- August 14, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pickford’s Brunch Market (2606 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33614)
- August 28, 12–4 p.m. at Corner Market at the Corner Club (1502 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa, FL 33610)
“We’re making lemonade out of lemons, literally, while also making sure everyone in our community knows what self-managed abortion is, informing them that it is a medically safe option, and directing them toward more information about ordering pills online,” says Kris Lawler, Tampa Bay Abortion Fund Board President.
“The Supreme Court has taken away our right to abortion, but they can’t actually stop us from having them,” says Amelia Bonow, the creator of Shout Your Abortion. “Tampa Bay Abortion Fund is not only committed to helping Floridians access abortion, but also to helping supporters begin to understand abortion access is a community responsibility. Events like this one are exactly what we need in order to get more helpers on board and help our neighbors begin to see reproductive freedom as something we must work together to facilitate.”
As misinformation about self-managed abortion spreads and abortion restrictions increase, it’s critical that everyone knows the facts about abortion pills, the evidence-based practices for their use in ending a pregnancy, and legal risks involved. TBAF has partnered with organizations like Shout Your Abortion and Plan C Pills (plancpills.org) to share detailed, expert information on self-managed abortion through abortion pills.
