TBAFund demonstrates how it fills the gaps in abortion access in its 2024 Impact Report

TAMPA, Fla — Jan. 27, 2025 — Today, Tampa Bay Abortion Fund (TBAFund) released its 2024 Impact Report, detailing how the organization has helped abortion-seekers navigate Florida’s extreme six-week abortion ban and funding cuts from national organizations.
In 2024, TBAFund hired its first full-time staff member, a director of case management, to better support callers’ needs. The organization also expanded its partnerships with clinics — nine in the Tampa Bay area and 19 outside Florida — local businesses, and other community organizations, furthering its mission to fund abortion care while breaking down stigma and sharing accurate information about abortion.
Here are a few highlights of TBAFund’s impact over the past 12 months:
- 2,213 abortion-seekers supported with appointment funding and/or practical support.
- $566,000 paid toward clinic costs for callers’ appointments, with an average appointment pledge of $404 — an increase of $64 from TBAFund’s average in 2023.
- A fund-record $91,000 paid in practical support costs — including airfare, rideshares, hotel stays — for callers traveling to their appointments. The average practical support pledge was $606.
- 240 abortion after-care kits put together by volunteers for distribution at local partner clinics.
- 3,800 emergency contraceptive pills and 10,000 condoms distributed through 51 community events and 20 community partners across Tampa Bay.
“We know that politicians aren’t coming to save us. It’s so important that people support organizations in their own communities that are doing the work, breaking down barriers to get people access to the abortion care they need,” said Bree Wallace, TBAFund’s director of case management. “Especially here in Florida, our legislative landscape will be incredibly hostile to abortion-seekers for the foreseeable future. But TBAFund isn’t going anywhere.”
